Poetry Volume II
These interactive reading programs cover four popular works
in classic literature These programs
are a unique device for introducing your students to the sonnets of the Bard. A
preliminary reading and discussion in class or individual reading is helpful
before taking on this task. The format of our programs (questions and answers) makes them
ideal for either study or testing purposes. Unlike regular paper tests,
our programs require an answer for each question before another question is
given. If a student answers incorrectly, the correct answer is revealed.
Entire test is scored on screen and allows for a print out for teacher and
student (a report card). There is an immediacy to reading which is not
captured through traditional reading. In addition you also save on paper
and other classroom materials. Questions and answers can be printed out by
teachers for classroom planning.
In the computer lab they can be great devices for cooperative
learning, by grouping students around a machine to incite decision making.
They can also be used in a controlled environment as a test of reading knowledge
-- individually or in groups. These programs also
make great tools when used as part of a Special Education curriculum, a home schooling
plan, and
ESL programs.
Interactive My Last Duchess
#PTY5Robert Browning's poem My Last Duchess is as intriguing as the Mona Lisa. Here again we have the mysterious smile that shines throughout the ages. The narrator is as curious about the smile of the Duchess and brings the reader along with him. What is it exactly that happened to her, we will probably never know. What was her relationship with the artist, and why was the narrator so jealous of the lady's glance? Bring your students into this mystery by having them complete the Interactive My Last Duchess. Complete poem is constantly available on screen for students to scroll. Short enough for one class period, but the program has save and open functions for slower students. 28 questions with alternate answers. Students type answer and immediate response is given -- correct or incorrect, along with the correct answer. Grade is displayed on screen for teacher to record or a report card can be printed for the teacher and student. Questions and answers can be printed out for teacher use in lesson preparation. |

Interactive Oh Captain My Captain
#PTY6No one could stop this renegade American poet and his themes ring true today as clearly as they did during the struggle of America in the Civil War. Walt Whitman is one of America's most powerful voices and in this study guide/test we help your students examine one of his more popular works, Oh Captain! My Captain. Twenty-two questions lead your students through this three-stanza, powerful and moving poem about the death of Abraham Lincoln. Includes all the features of the other interactive software: Teacher printout of questions and answers, student and teacher printed report of grade and scoring, on screen drop-down text window, Save and Open features for extended lesson. |

Interactive Ulysses
(The Poem) #PTY7 Everybody loves a hero when he's powerful, young, and strong; but how does the hero feel about himself and his life when he grows old. This is a theme common to a lot of poetry, but no better exemplified than in the harrowing self examination of Ulysses in Tennyson's poem Ulysses. Our interactive study guide/test takes your students through this agonizing study of 'hero grown old' and makes the ramblings of an idle king very meaningful. There are 22 questions for this seventy line poem that students must precisely answer as they read. Most students can complete this in one class period. You can use a copy of the poem which is available in many collections or at your local library or read the poem right on screen.. The program checks each answer and gives a grade at the end. The questions appear in sequential order making this an excellent focus study guide or test. |

Young Goodman Brown #PTY8
(SHORT STORY)
Young Goodman Brown is in for a transformation, more than he thinks. The man we see at the end of this story is painfully different from the one we see at the start. The symbolic references in this story are often lost on a youthful reader, but our study guide/test Interactive Young Goodman Brown keeps your students on focus as they make this brief and taxing journey with Young Goodman Brown. Complete story is available on screen for students to scroll. Short enough for one class period, but Open and Save features are available for those who don't finish. The guide/test has 40 questions with alternate answers. Students type answer and immediate response is given -- correct or incorrect, along with the correct answer. Grade is displayed on screen and printed report available for teacher and student. |
